A reminder from a Blackfoot Indian

Posted on September 20, 2007 by Julia Heywood

One fine day, the creator gathered all of creation together and said, ‘I want to hide something from the humans until they are ready for it.’

‘What is it?’ asked the Eagle.

‘It is the realisation that they create their own reality,’ the creator explained.

The Eagle said, ‘Give it to me. I will take it to the moon.’

The Creator replied, ‘No, one day they will go there and find it.’

The Salmon offered, ‘I will hide it at the bottom of the ocean.’

The Creator responded, ‘no, they will go there too.’

The Buffalo suggested, ‘I will bury it on the great plains.’

The Creator answered, ‘They will cut into the skin of the earth and find it even there.’

Finally, Grandmother Mole, who is almost blind and lives in the breast of Mother Earth said, ‘put it inside them.’

The Creator said, ‘It is done.’

The Battle Within

Posted on September 20, 2007 by Julia Heywood

A Native American grandfather talking to his young grandson tells the boy he has two wolves inside of him struggling with each other. The first is the wolf of peace, love and kindness. The other wolf is of fear, greed and hatred.
“Which wolf will win, grandfather?” Asks the young boy.
“Whichever one you feed,” is the reply.
